Situated on the top floor of an apartment block right across the road from Manly beach, this property was the weekender of our Sydney clients. A place where they could escape from their everyday life and take their children and grandchildren and have a Sydney staycation! The brief was classic and timeless but also a little coastal. We took cues from the ocean which can be seen from most rooms, cool and calm. We warmed it up with brass accents and pops of colour in lighting, textured cobble stones at the entry and beautiful wool carpet. Originally only a three bedroom property, we reworked the floor plan to create a fourth bedroom housing custom made bunks. Functionality was key, thinking about kids in summer with sandy feet, beach towels and frequently coming from and going the mud room and entry had to set the scene early on but also perform. Lots of storage, a beautiful arch and durable cobbles underfoot took care of this.
