Set on the tranquil waters of Oatley Bay, this project involved the considered renovation and extensive expansion of the clients’ existing family home. The brief was centred around creating a calm and restorative retreat—an escape from the pace of daily life—while thoughtfully preserving certain elements from the original structure. A key aspect of the design was the careful retention and restoration of existing features, including a vintage freestanding pedestal in the powder room, which was lovingly revived and reintroduced as a beautiful focal point. These heritage moments were balanced with a soft, contemporary material palette, introducing gentle layers of colour, texture and warmth throughout the home to create a sense of ease and understated playfulness. Framed by its waterfront outlook, the design consistently responds to the surrounding bay, allowing natural light and water views to shape the atmosphere of each space. The result is a serene, grounded home that feels both refined and relaxed—honouring its history while embracing a renewed sense of calm and livability.
